The 10 Principles of Kitsuno

Like the 10 Principles of Burning Man define a culture, these define what Kitsuno is — and what it refuses to become.

Principle 1
Your Data Is Your Soul
In kitsune mythology, every fox carries a hoshi no tama — a soul gem containing its power. Without it, the fox is nothing. Your Library is your hoshi no tama. It belongs to you. Not to a platform, not to a recruiter, not to an algorithm. Kitsuno holds it in trust. You can export it, delete it, or take it with you at any time. We will never sell it, trade it, or use it to train models. GDPR is not our compliance checkbox — it is our architecture.
Principle 2
Every Worker Matters
Kitsuno serves the carpenter and the CEO. The teacher pivoting to UX and the developer pivoting to teaching. The refugee rebuilding a career and the executive who got laid off last Tuesday. We use ESCO — the European taxonomy of every occupation — because no job is lesser. A forklift driver's skills are as real and as worthy of a good match as a management consultant's. The platform is built for all workers, not just the ones who already know LinkedIn.
Principle 3
The Fox Works for You
Kitso hunts while you sleep. Scans local and global sources, scores every job, drafts your documents, and guards your career data. But Kitso is a concierge — never an executor. The fox advises and illuminates. You decide. Every application goes out because you chose to send it. Every setting changes because you changed it. AI serves. Humans choose.
Principle 4
Accessibility Is Not a Feature
It is a right. Kitsuno is built for the European Accessibility Act from the ground up — not retrofitted as an afterthought. Keyboard navigation. Screen readers. Color-independent indicators. Reduced motion respect. The fox doesn't care if you use a mouse, a keyboard, a switch, or a screen reader. If you can't use Kitsuno, Kitsuno is broken — not you.
Principle 5
Radical Transparency
You will always know why a job scored the way it did. Which skills matched. Which gaps the AI found. What data informed your cover letter. There are no black boxes in your career. When Kitso says "this is a strong match," you can see exactly why — and disagree. The AI shows its work, or it doesn't speak.
Principle 6
No Dark Patterns
No countdown timers creating false urgency. No "3 other people are looking at this job" manipulation. No hiding the unsubscribe button. No making it easier to upgrade than to cancel. No burying privacy settings. No guilt-tripping on downgrade. Kitsuno grows because people want to stay, not because they can't figure out how to leave.
Principle 7
Bloom at Your Own Speed
Job searching is hard enough without a platform pressuring you. Kitsuno never shames you for not logging in, not applying, not finishing your profile. The fox is patient. Your career is not a sprint or a hustle — it is a life unfolding. Some weeks you apply to five jobs. Some weeks you need to rest. Both are valid. The platform waits, and when you return, everything is exactly where you left it.
Principle 8
Open Standards, Not Walled Gardens
ESCO for occupations. xAPI for activity records. Open-source models for AI. Typst for documents. Your Library is structured data you can take elsewhere — not a proprietary format that locks you in. Kitsuno builds on open standards because your career data should outlive any platform, including this one.
Principle 9
European by Design
Built in Europe, for Europe, under European law. Data stays in European data centers. GDPR is the foundation, not the ceiling. The European Accessibility Act is met, not dodged. The platform speaks the languages of the people it serves. And when regulations change — because they will — Kitsuno changes with them, because regulation that protects people is not a burden. It is an honor.
Principle 10
The Fox Keeps Its Promises
In every kitsune story, the fox that keeps its word becomes celestial. Nine tails. Tenko. Kitsuno makes promises it can keep. If we say your data is private, it is private. If we say the AI doesn't hallucinate your credentials, we have a validator that catches it. If we say the free tier works, it works — no crippled experience designed to frustrate you into paying. Trust is not a marketing claim. It is accumulated evidence over time.

These principles are not aspirational. They are architectural. Every feature, every API call, every line of code is measured against them. When a business decision conflicts with a principle, the principle wins.

Because the fox that keeps its promises becomes something more.
